Insulin is needed to remove sugar from blood and move it to the cells where it’s used as energy.
With obesity, the sugar level is too high and is not wanted, so the pancreas produces too much insulin. This creates three issues:
- The body thinks it’s not getting enough food and holds onto fat
- It stops producing serotonin
- It doesn’t feel satisfied, which leads to more over eating and more fat storage
- Insulin takes too much sugar from the blood, resulting in feelings of hunger and cravings
